- Cuddly Toys For Bracknell Ambulances

Ascot Rotarian Tony Love and President Elect Jo Clare delivered another consignment of 100, very endearing cuddly Toys to Hev, Ben and Chris, at the Bracknell Station of the South Central Ambulance Service, on December 17th 2020.  Tony has run the scheme in this area for several years, having adapted it from one he observed operating in the USA. Once again the Ascot Rotary Club had the pleasure of holding its annual District Christmas Breakfast meeting at the Mill Ride Golf Club, when our President Godfrey, along with our honoured guests, R.I.B.I President Donna Wallbank, and the District Governor Frank Quinn, together with members from twelve other clubs from the district were entertained with carols by members of the Salvation Army band, whilst enjoying a festive glass of mulled wine, which was followed by a full ...more...

The Ascot  Rotary Young Chef Competition held on Wednesday 20th November, 2019.  Six local students from Brakenhale Academy, Easthampstead Park Community School, Luckley House School, LVS Ascot and Ranelagh School arrived armed with their ingredients, time schedules and plenty of determination to prove that they could prepare a two course meal for two persons for under £15. - Winsor & Ascot Driving Group Cheque Presentation

On Monday 30th September 2019 Bob Oliver, representing Ascot Rotary, presented Sarah Clunie from the Windsor & Ascot Driving Group with a cheque for £350 to assist the group with the purchase of a new harness for their horse ‘Blue’. A total of 64 players attended this year’s annual charity golf day on the 27th September at the Royal Ascot G C, which was held on behalf of the charity ‘Children with Special Needs Foundation’ and other Rotary charities. Despite the unsettled weather for the time of the year, the weather proved kind, with only light intermittent showers, which proved interesting test for the golfers. - Young Photographers at Marist School

Young photographers from The Marist School, Sunninghill, have achieved photography success in the Rotary Young Photographer of the Year 2019 competition.
This year’s theme was ‘The Beauty of Nature’ and in the local Ascot round of the competition, Year 10 student Danella was awarded winner of the Intermediate category whilst Year 13 student Alex scooped the top award in the Senior category. Both students then went on to win at the ...more...

Fantastic weather for the Holy Trinity Summer Festival, Sunningdale. Wonderful weather and great company marked the start of our recruitment for Race Teams and Volunteers for our 2020 race to be held on the 1st January. Once again the Ascot Rotary held its annual BBQ for its members and guests in Ann Avens garden. The event was a great success, the weather was not too hot, and  the company was excellent with lots of chat and fellowship throughout the day. The three cooks (Bill, Bob and Colin), cooked various sausages, beef and lamb steaks, along with salads for the hungry members and guests. For the second year running the club held an evening of
Jazz, along with late afternoon tea, on Sunday the 14th July at the Mill
Ride Golf Club, and despite the numbers being down, possibly due other
events on that day, which included the Cricket World Cup final, and the
Wimbledon Men's final, the event was very successful, with some fifty-six

- Rotary Young Writer Competition 2019

The winners of the local round of the RIBI Young Writer competition received their Crystal awards from President Colin Corio at a recent assembly held at the Licenced Victualers School. Laila Ahmed was winner in the Senior Age group, Keira Landew in the Intermediate Age group, and Rosie Robertson in the Junior Age group. They also received a Certificate showing their achievement. Success at District level for local young photographers The local round of The RIBI Young Photographer of the Year took place in April this year with three local schools taking part. The judging process was through a local professional photographer plus The Artis Photographic Studios in Sunninghill. - Ascot Rotary - Supporting local schools and their pupil’s education

Helen Thomson, School Business Manager, from South Ascot primary school attended Ascot Rotary’s lunchtime meeting, 5th June, to receive a cheque for £395 from club President Colin. Rotary’s donation will enable the school to purchase a ‘Story Telling Log Seat’ in a hedgehog design, which will complement their outside nature area where the children are educated about the environment. The club enjoyed another President's Weekend, this time in Winchester.  Friday evening some of the members attended a very thought provoking play put on by a local group of actors.  Saturday morning was taken up with a lively tour around the Cathedral area by a a guide who was also a member of the local Rotary Club.  Some members visited the Cathedral for another excellant tour while others explored the centre of the city.  There was a Morris Dancing ...more...

Collette Reynolds, Practice Manager at Youthline, visited Ascot Rotary at their lunchtime meeting to receive a cheque for £300 from club President Colin. Our donation will help Youthline to provide vital counselling services within the Ascot, Bracknell and surrounding areas. Youthline have been providing one-to-one counselling for young people for the past 30 years, their service is designed to be an early intervention service that prevents more serious ...more...

We hosted 7 Rotary Scholars and their drivers to a day at Ascot Races on Wednesday 1st May. Race tickets for the Scholars were given with compliments of The race Course. In the evening we enjoyed dinner together at Mill Ride Golf Club, hearing short talks from 3 Scholars. 63 members, their partners and guests sat for dinner. A splendid day and evening enjoyed by all.

Ascot Rotary, in collaboration with the Stroke Association, held their annual ‘Know Your Blood Pressure Day’ on Saturday 27th April ’19 at Tesco’s super store in Martins Heron. With health professionals performing the ‘Blood Pressure’ readings Ascot Rotary tested many members of the local community, each individual was given their blood pressure reading and the overall results will be forwarded to the Stoke Association for their ...more...

- Young Photographer of the Year 2018/19

The local round of this RIBI National Competition has been judged and the Winners, and other students taking part, have been notified. The engraved Crystal Awards and Certificates will be presented early next term. The Senior winner is Alex Bennett from the Marist School with Kaitlia Aiden runner-up. The District round of the RIBI Young Musician took place on Sunday, March 17th in Reading.  There were three competitors being sponsored by the Ascot Club taking part. Sarah Aizawa on violin (our local round winner), Sandro Shargarodsky on Piano and Anastasia Adam on vocals. - Rotary Collection for Polio at Tesco

Rotary Club of Ascot collecting at Tesco, Martins Heron, for Polio, Friday & Saturday 15th & 16th February. We collected £778 including Gift Aid over the 2 days. Pictured are John Baker and David Marshall. A jolly good result.

On our January 5th Wednesday, an enjoyable evening was had by the members, along with their partners and guests, who included a potential new member Charlie Scully and his wife Claire, when we were treated to a Scottish themed evening in celebration of Burns Night, during which we enjoyed the piping in of the haggis by our guest piper Brian Grant, followed by the address to the haggis, made by our resident Scot, Graham Smith. ...more...

- Presentations to Thames Valley Air Ambulance and Dementia UK

This lunchtime we had the pleasure of the company of representatives from these two worthwhile charities to receive cheques from the club, being half of the proceeds (the other half is in our Charity Fund) raised at the Tesco and Waitrose Christmas collections, which were organised by Anthony Hatch, who was assisted by other members of the club, along with entertainment provided on the day by the David Jones band.
